But we just got sick of waiting. So instead of April 13th, 2007, it is now Jan. 27th 2007. So Chris and i are running around like chickens with our heads cutoff trying to pin down details. Wish us luck!!! Oh and some of you know i got my dress 2 sizes smaller than what i was, thinking i had time to lose the weight Well i have only lost one dress size and seem to be leveling out I tried on my dress yesterday and could only get the zipper up 1/2. Talk about depressing. So now i get to exercise twice a day and change up my diet. I am not looking forward to the next 11 weeks. But i will be gald to finally be married, i think i and a half is long enough to wait Hey does anybody know any good honeymoon spts in Colorado, i want to see snow!!! SHannon |

Good Luck! January 27th is my daughter's B-day. |
If you love to ski, and love the mountains...come to Banff, Alberta...some beautiful places to stay. |
Oh congrats!!! I think it's great that you are moving it up! How much fun (as long as you can get everything reserved again)
As far as places to go, we honeymooned in Colorado in 2005, but it was July. Still cold at night. We had our honeymoon in Telluride, Colorado. It's where stars are known to go because it's never crowded. So, if you want secluded, this is it. We went on a jeep tour that was fabulous, ate at the restaurants the hotel recommended, shopping, and stayed in the room a lot. A lot of famous politicians have homes there too, but I can't remember. Traveling up the trails to their home was so much fun. Oprah and Tom Cruise have houses there, and some famous model used to have a house there (she's the chick on the news b/c her husband just cheated on her w/a super young chick after recently getting married). It's a small town, and everyone is friendly. If you can bring your dog, this is the place to be! I say that because my husband kept nagging and nagging the entire trip that we should have brought Yuki. That's his idea of a perfect honeymoon. If you can afford it, get the suite at Hotel Telluride. It was absolutely beautiful, and we loved spending our time in the bedroom, ........livingroom, and there's a hot tub outside. I don't know what the other rooms look like, just that ours was the best! Thanks to mil. edit: Christy Brinkley is who I was thinking of! |
I was going to recommend telluride too! My sister and her husband say that the wyndham peaks resort is incredible (and dog friendly!)

^^
I heard, from the people on our jeep tour, that was a beautiful place to stay. We said it was our honeymoon and got a free upgrade on our car rental. It was a sweet infiniti, so definitely throw in that you just got married when/where you can! My husband tried to get up at 6 to go running, and he was outside for maybe 10 minutes before he came in and said... WAY TOO COLD to jog. hahahaha He had only brought shorts. |
Congratulations!!!
If you want to come to Colorado, let me know. I will be happy to give you a Sheepie fix! lol As for snow? I'm next to the foothills of Rocky Mountain Nat. Park. Takes me 30 minutes from my front door to get there........ well maybe a bit longer if there is traffic! It is 'spitting' rain and some snow mix right now at my house! Durango is a great place,,,, it is on the other side of the Mountain Range from me. I used to live there. Durango Mtn Ski Area or Purgatory Ski Area is how I always knew it is fantastic with all levels of runs. I used to teach skiing there MANNNNNNNNNNNYYYYYY years ago now. Let me know if I can help you out in any way. Ali (who is getting ready for Norm to come home!) |
Thanks guys, i've always wanted to go there and it is going to be easier for us to stay in the states rather than go someplace exotic. I grew up in North Dakota, so i have grown to be very fond of the snow. While living in Texas for the past four years, i have seen snow exactly 2 times. The 1st x-mas here and one other time, but it was more of a crazy hail storm than snow. So, i MISS it.
We don't ski, but still want to get outdoors. It will be very busy leading up to the actual wedding, since we have about 11 weeks, so my feelings are... i want to hole up for as long as we can, before having to come back to the crazyness of school and moving into our new house, which we have yet to find. I'll check out the placess you guys suggested and keep ya posted Shannon |
Congratulations! Have a great time planning your wedding. And about the dress- you can do it! Eat several small meals a day, restrict fat and bad carbs like sugar and white flour, and keep in mind that it's only for a short time! Can't wait to see a picture of you in your dress! |
Congratulations! And here's wishing you that good luck you asked for. |
It's all great! From Steamboat in the north, Summit County has Keystone, Copper Mtn and Breckenridge within spitting distance of one another (Yes, Ali I left off my old haunt A-basin), Vail/Beaver Creek is beyond Summit County, Aspen is many different mountains, Telluride and Durango are down in south and sw part of the state. Really depends on how much you want to spend and access. Some are close-ish to Denver, others are a bit more difficult to get to easily.
Cheaper may be Steamboat Springs....but plenty nice. Swanky of course Aspen and Vail/Beaver Creek. Easy from Denver, Summit County's resorts. All in all, good choice! But then I am biased. |
Hey congrats on your upcoming wedding!! I'm confident you can wear that dress in 11 wks too..you have great motivation.
Colorado I've heard is beautiful and the place J showed us looks amazing! Keep us posted!! Marianne and the boys |
