I think 17 is just about as old as I've ever met one; that dog's name was Weezer and was owned by KC, not a member here as far as I know, but he travels to lots of sheepie events here in the Northeast USA.

Welcome to you and Lizzy, we have one that is turning 18 in February and looks like she is going to celebrate that special event, still going strong.
I asked the same question on another list too when ours turned 17 1/2, the answer I got back was an OES in the UK that lived to a amazing age of 23. Two others replied also one with one that lived to 18 years old and the other with one that lived to 18 1/2. Congratulations to Lizzy she is a grand age and very special, look forward to hearing more about your special grand girl. |
Welcome!
I can't wait to hear more about Lizzy. |
wow, I never thought an OES could live that long! |
Me either! |
That's great!

Wow, that is so great! |
WELCOME!!!! How wonderful that Lizzy is 17!!!!1 Can't wait to hear more about her. I guess I can relax, last year after Tasker turned 10 I started to worry that he was getting too old, I hope we have another 7, 8 o 10 years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
Wow...17 years is great. |
Welcome, that's phenomenal about Lizzie. Can you share your secret to longevity? I think we all have a Sheepie or two we'd love to have around that long. |
That's amazing!! I'd like to hear more about Lizzy, too.
Lisa - I didn't realize Kelsey was that old either. |
Oh My! 17 years old and still going! Congrats Lizzy...and keep on going girl!
I just hope that Guinness will live to that ripe old age or longer! |
Oh no Tammy Kelsey is not that old, hope she makes it to that age, she is nearly 12.
The sheepie girl I was talking about was a re-housing as an 8 year old and the lovely people that have her have had nearly another 10 years with her. I posted a birthday wish when she turned 17 back in February and hopefully in the new year I can do the same for her 18th. Her name is Champas and she is related to my girls. |
Ahh....yes...I do remember that now that you mention it. I hope she can celebrate at least one more birthday - hopefully many more! |
Oh wow.... Thats a great age... Ive had three sheepies my oldest was 13
Welcome to the forum |
we have a 21.5 year old girl her 1/2 brother was 21 and he non related brother was 16.
Now have two younger boys too 8 and 4 |
21.5...WOW!!!! |
Hi Tekebird and Welcome to the forum. 21 1/5 is absolutely awesome.
Still trying to verify the one in the UK that lived till 23. Wish they all could have such a wonderfull long life span, wouldn't that be great. Our Champas lived till her 18th birthday and 1 week after she fell asleep and did not wake up in the morning, like she wanted to share with her family that special day then said that is it time to go. So her mom and dad did not need to have to make that dreaded discission. Here is the girl celebrating her 18th birthday party. And her special Birthday cake celebrating the big 18th. Would love to see photos of your special sheepies. Look forward too, to hearing about them all and your younger ones too. |
Congratulations on a lovely long life |
peeps is only 1 now and i hope she goes on and on!
that's why i'm afraid of using those tick and flea things...i duobt that they help anyone's health!! so...i guess i'll pick off a tick should i find one and scream if she gets fleas!!! |
It gives us all hope that we could enjoy very long lives with our sheepies! That just made mt day! Thank you , and where are the pictures? |
have pics in the album now.
first pic is oreao and the old girl sheeba other dog is Casey AKA Pooh |
My oldest boy at the moment is 19 1/2, but is a Blue Heeler/Lab. His previous sheepie sister lived to 15 1/2 even though she had immune deficiency thrombocytopenia a disorder of the immune system. She developed it at age 8, but still continued to live a rather long life.
One of my other dogs was a Samoyd/Lab (sp?) who lived to 17 and 6 of my cats lived to the ages of 19-21. Tekebird,Your doggie is ancient for her breed - way to go!! Nothing in the world beats the love of an old dog. Lisa, I always think of Champas and how wonderful she looked for her age - I'm sure your friend misses her terribly. Marianne |
