Didn't see a link to a survey, so I will introduce myself: Username is FlossyDog, in memory of my OES from years gone by. Recently acquired a new OES, "Daisy" from the SEastern Rescue. Daisy is the perfect dog for us, adult (age est 5-6 yrs old) and it took me 3 years to find one that met my criteria as a "good fit" dog for me. She has not shown any behavior problems other than hoarding her food. She lies down to eat with her bowl "cuddled" between her front legs. The only aggression she has shown is to herd the cat away from her bowl! Daisy is a smiler, and grins all over herself when we get up in the mornings, when she wants to go out, and when she is scolded. Indeed, if you call her name and she is doing something she shouldn't, you will know this by the BIG GRIN on her face when she comes to you... Tells on herself actually. While we think its cute, I suspect this may be a manifestation of "negative energy". I hope not, as she is just endearing with that big ol smile. We got the training materials from Cesar Millan and implemented them from first encounter with Daisy. She was not leash trained, but took to the leash beautifully in only 3 days! I hope to get to know everyone here over time, and will appreciate any advice or information that is shared here. Thanks for letting us join in! FlossyDog and Daisy |

Welcome to the forum. I can't wait to see pictures of your perfect girl! She's lucky to have such a loving family! |
Thanks all... I hope to be able to visit here with some regularity. I am currently on leave from work, so I have more time in the next week or so than normal. But there seems to be such a good feeling here, good info, and pleasant company....!! I will make time when things are back to normal. FlossyDog was an OES that adopted ME back in the late 1980s. She died of old age in 1998, around aged 14. I say "around" because she was adult when she got me, and we only had an estimate of her age. Flossy was a snowcap with two china blue eyes. She was the first OES I had ever seen in my life, and she velcroed herself to me on first sight. It was absolutely un-nerving, and I had not considered a pet... But the next day, I took her home. She was a perfect, and I mean IDEAL, pet for my family, from day one, and she changed my life in ways that would take too long to go into. It took me years to make the decision to get another one, and I spent about 2 years looking before I made a choice that brought Daisy to our lives. She is IN, lemme tell ya, and has hooked the whole clan. I recognize Ingrid's name in these forums, and we have exchanged some emails in the adoption process, if its the same person... HEY INGRID!! Alas, I do not have the gadgets for photos. But if that ever changes, I will be sure to post! I took one of Daisy with my son in law's nephew last weekend that is a real heartwarmer... She wrapped her big ol body around that baby, somehow knew NOT to lick the child (he's about 6 mos old) and he was trying to kiss her like babies do... It was sweet. She handled herself with that infant like she knew just what to do and NOT do. Its amazing how that happens, at least to me. Its sometimes a struggle not to "humanize" a dog like that.... But I ramble... Thanks again for the warm welcome, and I hope to get to know you all better as time goes by! |
Welcome from Australia, look forward to hearing about your sheepies. |

I believe you can also take pictures in to scan and they will put those on disc. I think other places do the same thing too. |
Welcome. |
Welcome Flossy Dog from a fellow North Carolinian!
Congrats on adopting Daisy. She sounds like a very charming girl. What part of the state are you in? I'm in the Hickory area. |
