Oops, I messed up.

I thought Jasper's breeders said the puppies would be born at Christmas, but reading an e-mail from them...they said they should be ready to come home around Christmas. That means they should be born ANY day now. Brandon's birthday is the 20th, and there's a book called "The Birthday Surprise" where the boy goes on a scavenger hunt and at the end of the book, he gets a puppy. Brandon loves books, so I'm thinking about seeing if the new puppy can arrive on his birthday (or close to it) so we can do the things in the book and let him find the puppy on his birthday. :) That rules out the big Christmas present (because we won't be able to afford another big present after her! lol). :)

Wow, 2 1/2 months. Things are going to be crazy with a 4 month old and a new puppy!

OH.MY.GOSH!!!!!

I am so excited, jealous, and anxious!

Your birthday idea sounds wonderful.

My mouth dropped thinking about the handful you'll have.
You'll have to post LOTS AND LOTS of pics. Your dogs will have so much fun together! I bet they'll have wonderful personalities too with boys to play with!
OMG is right, wow that would be so much fun for Brandon and such a wonderful surprise too  Keeping fingers crossed your new little bundle will be home for a real big surprise on his Birthday. :D :hearts:
OMG! Good thing you re read the email. The breeders might have thought you didn't want a pup if you waited that long to contact them. The book idea sounds great - what fun :) .
The book idea sounds great but I would make sure that there is no party and they both have quiet time together that day and the next few days afterword. With all the excitement of a bunch of kids or a lot of traveling things could go from interesting to chaos in an instant!
I had a friend that got a puppy at a party when we were younger. I'm pretty sure that arriving during all the hoopla scarred that pup for life. The kids parents thought it would be good socialization but it ended up being totally overwhelming for kid, dog and parents. By the time we all went home, the mom was crying, the kid was so tired he didn't want to deal with a puppy and the pup was just catatonic in a corner.
What a wonderful birthday and Christmas present! And you are right, the puppy is the big present this year. I agree with Mandy--lots of quiet time for the pup AND Brandon. And YOU.

Everything will work just fine with Brees and the wee one.

No party this year for him. He doesn't really have any friends - just kids he plays with at preschool, but I'm don't really know their parents so I don't feel comfortable inviting them. His cousins all live out of state, so I think we're just going to do cake & ice cream with the 4 of us and my parents. Then, we'll take him to Chuck E. Cheese to play games the weekend of his birthday since he's been wanting to go to CEC for months now and maybe the children's museum if they're up to it (the closest CEC/museum is about 2 1/2-3 hours away). It'll be a VERY low-key birthday for him this year. If we do happen to be able to visit the ILs in December (Jason's supposed to work Christmas this year), we'll have cake & ice cream with all of his cousins and ILs there too.
WOW - you are going to be busy! It sounds like your house will be full of love for the holiday season!
What a merry Christmas you're going to have. :D
Wonderful. On the serious side, don't bring him home before 8 wks. He needs the socialization with his littermates during this critical time.

We are. I'm thinking it's going to be closer to the first of the year now since there's no word on puppies yet. I'm getting anxious. :) That's fine though - get over the Birthday/Christmas rush before we add another puppy to our family. Our 8th anniversary is on January 5th, so maybe the puppy can be an anniversary present? hehe
They sent a pic of Momma dog yesterday, and she is so ready to pop. I can't wait until the pups are born. It's going to be a long few weeks!!!
How exciting for you! Do they live near enough to go visit?

No. :( They're in North Dakota, and we're in Mississippi.
That's depressing!
I'm a lot closer, but still a long ways away :? .
