Need a home check in Columbus/Ohio

I have a beautiful sheepie boy that found a great home in Ohio, but we need a home check first.
Anybody near by Columbus, they live just outside in Powell, that could do a home check?
Paddy would appreciate it, he is ready for his new home.
Thanks
Ingrid

I live in Columbus, albeit on the other side of town from Powell... but still, closer than you are :)
However, I have never done a homecheck, and wouldn't know what to look for, or how to do one. If you can help me out with that, I may be able to do this for you!
Let me know! :)
Andrea
I live in New Albany, the other side of I-71, not too far away Powell either. However, I'm in the same boat as Andrea, and have never done a home check either.

Let me know if you need help! :)

I wrote up a form for our Dixie rescue home visit "newbies" that may be helpful to anyone going on their first home visit ( I prefer the word visit to check) Go to www.dixieoesrescue.org and look for forms. There is a Home Visit questionnaire. Basically, you go with your gut -- would I leave my own dog in the care with this family? Secondly , try to bring your own dog along for the visit. You may see how the family reacts if your dog pees on their floor (believe me this really has happened!) Thirdly, if you know anything about the dog they are applying for -- keep those personality traits in your mind when you do the visit, For example is the dog a fence jumper or a counter surfer. And finally. Please never promise the family that particular dog or any other dog -- that is the job of the Placement Director of the group that you are representing....

I found the link and printed the form. Seems to be self-explanatory. I wonder if Monty would pee on their floor.....lol..
Hoffma... thanks for the offer! I've already called the "hopefuls" and set an appointment for Saturday... during the game, oh what timing I have!! lol
I'm glad someone brought up bringing your own sheepie to the visit. I was wondering if it would be improper to being Duchess with me? but now I think I probably will... just so she can tell me her opinion too
I'll let everyone know how it goes!!

By the way... I hope you don't mind, but I would like your permission to use that home visit form when I go to do this on Sat :)
Andrea, I don't care about any sheets with the home visits. When I do them for the humane society they also have those sheets and I never use them.
Just use common sense, would you want your sheepie to live there?
Don't bring your dog, no need to.
Thanks
Ingrid
ok, thanks for the info. I'll let you know what happens :)
Andrea did great. She gave me her report and it was a good one.
So Paddy is on his way to his new home.
Thanks again Andrea
