I was down there this weekend helping to post fliers etc but from what I can see the groomer is not really healping to locate this dog. Anyone in the area please help get the word out! She is 3 years old, not housebroken (so may seem like a puppy to some) light tan and has a yorkie type face. She has no coller and tags on at the moment (groomer removed them) and her name is Emmie. |

I hope she finds her dog!!! Oh my gosh
I would be getting the word out there about what the groomer did!!! In a business that always has dogs, is to be trusted with them, and has a reputation to maintain, there are no "ACCIDENTS" IMO. I'd BE FURIOUS, and would even go as far as trying to get the news to make a story ...just to throw it out there and to find your sisters dog. |

If she went out the back door, I can't believe they couldn't catch her-- she's not exactly a Greyhound, you know? Is it a busy city area? I hope no one would keep her. I think before I'd do anything that I'd regret later, I'd really want to understand how it happened and what the groomer's reaction was to it. Has she mentioned a plan for how to deal with your sister if the dog isn't found? To play devil's advocate, what if the groomer had removed her tags so she wouldn't get stuck on the cage (the responsible thing to do) and as she went to down to pick her up to take her to the grooming area? The groomer slips as she bends over and Emmie runs out, right at the same time someone else is coming in after perhaps walking another dog who had been in the shop for awhile? Emmie's out the door before the groomer could even get back on her feet. I'm not implying that did happen, but I was just offering that as a possible "accident" scenario. Accidents can happen in every situation and, provided that the groomer was just as upset as I was, as the owner, I wouldn't want to ruin someone's income and livelihood if they were making a diligent effort to rectify what happened. I'm also not saying it makes things any better for the owner, because it doesn't. A few months ago, Bear was at the groomer and busted out of a cage, got loose and came running up to the front of the shop, looking for Clyde. I don't think any of us could've predicted that Bear could bend steel bars, Superman style. Luckily, nothing happened but I know if it had, I'd have wanted to ruin the groomer, too, even knowing that was an accident! |
Well, that's true. I was basing it off of the groomer not seeming to care. I do agree that "accidents" CAN happen. I'm just more upset that it happened since I take my dogs to the groomers and trust them to have measures ...such as a doggy gate at each door which contains them just in the back ...in case they got out of a cage. |

Lol. I haven't gone back because I don't want her to bill me for the cage! It really stinks, too because she did a nice job with Clyde and Lucy. Now I have to either find a new groomer or start doing all of it myself. My biggest problem is Bear doesn't fit in the tub at home. |
I'm so sorry, she must be devastated. I will hope for the best. |
Has your sister found her dog? What happened with the groomers? |
She hasn't gotten Emmie back yet - the local paper ran a copy of an email Kathy sent them - I have no idea what the groomer is doing about this. I assume at this point they are staying low key hoping to avoid a law suit. |
My dog got lost while at the groomers too. In freezing cold weather.....February in Canada!
Call every vet in the area and let them know about the missing dog. Flyers all over the area where the dog could be will also help. Our dog was found 4 days later not even close to where we were looking. He managed to get quite far from the groomers. People who found him had looked at our flyer at the grocery store....they thought it was my daughter lost and not the dog this is why they even looked at the flyer. Do not give up hope. We'll keep our paws crossed your sisters dog is found. P.S. None of our dogs go to the groomers anymore...we gave that particular groomer 2 other chances and she screwed it up both times. She didnt lose Merlin on purpose but she also was NOT careful enough. If she had listened to me and NOT shaved him his collar wouldnt have been too loose and he wouldnt have been able to get out of the collar when she was taking him to potty. |
