I wanted to say a big THANK YOU to all the forum members that donated money and had so many encouraging words for Marcus. As you can tell from the photos he went from being covered in sores to being a beautiful sheepie. Betsy from the forum (she lives near Birmingham) had a chance to bring her sheepie, Puddy, to meet up with us. We both talked to the new family and strongly encouraged them to join the forum so we can keep tabs on how he is doing. This is Marcus meeting his new “kid” Brent for the first time: Meeting Betsy - the dogs are Marcus, London & Puddy: London getting to know Puddy Marcus and his new dad, Gar, and his new kid, Brent: The group: Betsy w/Puddy: Right now I have this warm fuzzy feeling from being part of this group. THANKS TO EVERYONE! |

for Marcus and his new family.
Great pics of all the Sheepies |
That makes me glad to hear everything went smoothly. Looks like Marcus and family are so happy! |
THAT is exactly what keeps people involved with doing canine rescue!
The dogs come into care , often a mess , get some TLC and some time to settle and get some lovin. Then a perfect home is found that the now healthy dog can start a new life in. It doesn't get much better than that. Group hug! P. S. Thanks, Ron! |
The photos are just beautiful all the get together to send Marcus to his new family, Ooooh happy tears, does not get any better then that.
Hugs to all you Angels, the ones that helped Marcus and the lovely new family that adopted Marcus, bless you all |
All of my sheepies are wandering around the house searching every room for Marcus today. When London can't find him she just plops down and lays her head down and heaves a big sigh.
Anyone know how long this will last? |
Awww poor Sheepies. Especially London because I know how much she liked Marcus. |
Wynette you did such a good job with Marcus and so did your little "helper" London - poor girl, she must really miss her playmate.
Congratulations to Marcus and the lucky family who took him in. |
Poor London, I am so sorry that you miss Marcus, but don't worry, mom says that she would foster again and soon you have another sheepie to take care off and teach it how to be a pet.
You did good little one, you and mom. She sound like my Dallas, he was always ready to share his toys with a new rescue, how I miss that boy. Thanks again Wynette. Ingrid |

Anyone know how long this will last? Awee... Yuki says she knows the feeling. It's been two weeks, and she goes BONKERS when she hears daddy's voice. We bought a teddy bear for lil J that has daddy's voice in it. Yuki will run downstairs and wait at the door for at least 30 min. each time it goes off... followed by some wimpering. |
I'm so glad Marcus is in his new home. It will be a big adjustment for all of you at home, but very fulfilling! |
This is really great. I am so excited and happy for Marcus and his new family. What a great outcome. |
Great job!!
I happy endings!! |
This is such a heartwarming ending to what started out as a tragic beginning.
Marcus will be king of the house and will have SO much fun running around with his "kid" Brent. Knowing what he went through to get to this point, I have no doubts he will be the BEST dog they've ever had!! Aw, poor London! She misses her playmate! Time for another foster, Mom!! |
Hi
We're new to the forum and just wanted to let you know about Marcus. We picked him up from Wynette in Birmingham on Saturday and he is getting used to his new digs. He seems to be doing exceptionally well - a tribute to his good treatment in Baton Rouge by Wynette and the vet, and to all the great support from this forum. He is very sweet and very well behaved - better behaved than we have been accustomed to with our previous Sheepies. He doesn't show any real adjustment issues other than looking very hurt every time we leave the room, much less when we leave the house for work. Like some of our others, he doesn't like the rain at all and prefers to "hold it" until he has to run to the door in a panic, and still only goes out if we go with him, umbrella in hand! Marcus has recovered nicely and shows little sign of what health issues he has experienced - although he has an attractive patch work coat where new black fur has replaced sores. He also still has some rough pads on his feet which will still take a while to clear up. Thanks so much to Wynette, Ingrid and all on this forum who have cared about him. He is a perfect dog and we are very lucky to have him! |
Its sounds like he is in his perfect forever home! Congratulations!! It doesnt surprise me about the rain...my panda doesnt even like wet grass let alone get her whole body wet....well, except for the ocean.....
I cant wait to see pictures of him and his new wonderful family! |
Gar and Chris - Thanks SO much for joining our forum family!! Now we can still hear about Marcus, and I'm sure that thrills all of us!!
And thank you so very much for rescuing this precious boy. He deserves the best, and it seems like you're the perfect family to give it to him! |
Welcome to the forum, and thanks for rescuing Marcus!
PS Is it Brent or Bryce who doesn't like the rain? |
Congratulations on adopting Marcus. Everyone here, at the Forum, kinda adopted him as our mascot. He was in such diar need, when he was found, it broke all of our hearts. Wynette the vet and everyone involve in bringing this sweet boy back to good health are angels. I am pleased to hear that Marcus is making a good adjustment to your home. How lucky he is to have such great Mom and Dad and boys to play with too. Best of luck to you and I will be looking forward to more updates of that beautiful sheepie, Marcus. |
Wynette,
Thank you so much for taking such good care of him, he looks so healthy and happy in the pictures. Bless you and your family. Gar and Chris, Welcome to the forum!!! I am so happy that Marcus choose you as his family, I hope you have many, many, many years with this boy and he will fill you life with tons of love and joy. PS.. my dogs won't go out for a pee by themselves either..much less when it's raining. Brenda, Dudley and Murphy |
Thanks for joining us!! We're all so glad that Marcus has found a wonderful new home.
Getting to meet his new family and keep up with him is a huge bonus!! |
I just love a happy ending! Thank you so much for having such a big heart and rescuing a sheepie for a short while Wynette, and for a long while Gar and Chris! |
Welcome Gar & Chris. Glad to you have aboard. We appreciate you popping in to let us know Marcus is doing well. Hope you continue to participate. Since you have previous sheepie experience, we may have some questions you can help answer. |
Welcome Gar & Chris!
Congrats on Marcus!! |
Welcome! Marcus is such a sweetie, and you sound like the perfect home to help him enjoy a new life!! |
Gar & Chris,
So glad you decided to join the forum. YEAH! Glad to hear that all is going well. This is a picture of Marcus with all of our sheepies: http://photos.oes.org/displayimage.php?pos=-8024 Welcome!!!!!! |
Oh, I am such a sucker for a happy ending.
Welcome, Marcus's new family. We really hope you will keep us updated on this sweet boy. And Baton Rouge thanks for all that you did, it must be bittersweet to let him go! P.S. Mine don't like going out in the rain either. Little wussies. |
Welcome, glad you joined this wonderful group.
Thanks Wynette for being there when I needed you and you have done such a great job with Marcus. There is one more person that we better not forget and his name is Jim Spurling. He is somewhat retired from oes rescue - you never completely retire- but he gave me a call one day and told me that he had this wonderful family that adopted from him years ago and that they are looking for another sheepie. Knowing Jim how picky he is about who is getting one of his dogs, well I knew that had to be a great home, and he was right. Thank you so much for giving this boy a second chance and a happy life. Thank you so much for giving this boy a second chance and a happy life. Ingrid Jim really has a great love for the sheepies - I just got home from having dinner with Jim and his wife and what a crew they have - their house is full of love for unwanted dogs. My Patch was rescued from death row in SC by Jim just in the nick of time - I am very thankful to the Spurlings for providing me with my best friend. |
