Martinsville is not far from me in Louisville - very tempting. She is a doll. Patch would love a sister. Someone said she had a lot of gray in her for 5 months. Patch is around 5 yrs and is still very dark. Is this unusual for her age? Thanks. |
Lonon is 6 mths and is that gray or maybe even grayer. And the weight is dead on. |
I've offered OES Rescue's help in placing Holly. Waiting to hear what they say. |
She's adorable! I wonder why anyone would give her up? |
My wife and I have been desperately trying to adopt another sheepie after losing our Rosie to cancer this summer. We have been in contact with the Chicagoland and Michigan rescue organizations but haven’t had any luck with a good match as of yet. I contacted Karen and hope to hear back from her soon about Holly, she sounds like a great companion, very cute indeed, hope we get to meet her soon! |
This is great! Please let us know any progress people make with placing her. |
I spoke with Karen who is placing Holly, she was so nice! We will be making the trip from Chicago tomorrow to go meet Holly, we are so excited, I will certainly keep everyone posted. Yeah! |
Wonderful! Hope it goes well! |
That's wonderful news rosebud! I can't wait to hear how it goes. Take pictures please! |
Good luck with your visit, and let us know how things went ! |
Unfortunately, we were told late in the afternoon on Friday that Holly would not be ready to make a road trip due to her recent procedure, so we are waiting to hear back to find out when we can go meet her. Needless to say, we were a little bummed out last night, but it was nice to know everyone is keeping her health and best interest in mind. We are keeping our fingers crossed to meet her soon, she is adorable! |
Oh, waiting is so hard. We had to wait a month to go get Chewie, and we felt like we were going crazy! |
She's beautiful. I hope it works out for you to adopt her. I am glad she's being held by a rescue group rather than by a shelter.
As for size, my Sophie, who seems smallish to me, weighed in at 54 pounds at her 6 month spay. Sherman, her litter mate, weighed in at 58 pounds, but looks far more than 4 pounds heavier. Sherman's much more gray than is Sophie--or 7 year old Archie, for that matter. |
Another Sheepie saved! |
I am discouraged to report that we have not heard back from the rescue organization regarding Holly since our initial email contact and phone conversation last Friday. We were given an excellent recommendation from our vet and had set a time to meet last Saturday but later in the day I was sent a very brisk email stating that Holly was not ready for rescue due to having her post-spay operation stitches removed on that day.
Since then I have emailed several times and left a voice message to get an update on the situation without any response. We are not only concerned about Holly's well-being, but we are also majorly bummed that we were not able to meet Holly and confused as to why we are being ignored. We are obviously very interested in rescuing Holly, but we just don’t know how much more we can pursue her without becoming stalkers. Hopefully they are just very busy doing other rescues and are waiting to get back to us. I will keep everyone posted if we finally do hear anything, please do the same if anyone else hears anything about Holly, thanks! -Jason |
I hope things straighten out for you! I don't see her on Petfinder anymore. |
Jason -
I'm sorry you're having trouble getting information on Holly. Most of the rescues are run by volunteers and sometimes it can take a few days to get a response. Where are you located? Do you & your wife want to adopt a female? Please see Brooklynn on our website: www.tarheeloesrescue.org She is looking for a good home! Let me know if I can answer any questions for you. |
Hi Jason,
I don't know why the shelter wouldn't at least get back with you with an answer one way or the other. The shelter in South Bend, IN that had "Pooh Bear" received TONS of applications. They also received hate-mail from people who were not chosen as adoptive parents! Hope you get some good news soon. |
Thank heavens those idiots who sent hate mail were not chosen. I hate to think what they'd do when Pooh Bear chewed something or ate something or was muddy or knocked something over or heaven forbid, have a potty accident.
Hope the girl in question landed in a wonderful home and that you hear soon. |
Oh my goodness, Brooklynn looks like quite the Princess!
Hate mail is too pathetic for words! |
We just began our search to adopt an OES. I've had a sheepie all my life, and our 14 year old, Maggie, just recently passed. She was the most gentle and loving dog we've ever known! Our neighbors toddlers loved giving her treats - she would use her funny black lips to receive a biscuit from them! People commented that she looked like she was always smiling!
have contacted the Tarheel Rescue and are hoping to meet Brooklyn! She looks like quite a little princess! Keeping our fingers crossed! Ginny |
