Her anal glands are probably impacted. She may need them expressed and may need an antibiotic. However, this should not indicate that she'll always have problems and need them removed. Often times, this is caused by an allergy. There was a recent post regarding the same issue. The stool needs to be firm in order for the normal "expression" of the anal glands. This may be the problem. She'll probably need a Vet appointment to resolve the current issue - but don't panic - it may never reoccur! Kristen |

Often during a vet exam or during a grooming, either a tech or the groomer will routinely express a dog's anal glands. It's not a difficult procedure, but as you said, there's 'that smell'. How are her stools? |
