This may have already been addressed but.... I see all these beautiful boys and girls with their beautful coats and wonder how y'all keep the coats so smooth. I try to brush Hannah every night before bed. Every night her coat looks the same. She almost has ringlets. The fur on her head is fairly straight but her legs are kinky and especially her bum is in strands. Even with nightly brushing I'm finding a few mats, one behind each ear and on her front legs. I have started spraying her with conditioner to see if it will help with brushing. But the ringlets make me nuts. Is it still puppy fur? She is 8 months old now. Thanks for any help or suggestions. |

Hannah is at the stage of coat change, so they do start to look a bit different in the coat. It is a hard stage too for knots and matting. To see if hannah is changing coat, look across her shoulders and up the back of the legs and hocks, you will see a lighter grey in the coat starting to emerge, usually in those areas first.
So if that is happening, you are in the puppy/junior coat transition and the coat does get a bit scrappy do (not as fluffy) at this stage till more of the coat change starts imerging. It will settle down more when more of the transition has taken place. |
London is the same way. She is 6 mths old and after a day of playing she is nothing but a mass of wavy hair and ringlets. The black area on her is definitely changing to the light gray coat already.
Just keep up the good job of grooming her. Sooner than you know it you will have one of those big dogs with great looking hair too. |
