That's a great question!
The forum software comes with no way for me or any moderator or admin to read other's PMs. However, they are stored in the database until both the sender and the receiver have deleted it. I do have access to the database, however I do not make it a practice of reading anyone else's PMs. No other moderator or admin has access to the database. On a few rare occasions I have had to look for PMs from individuals, based on complaints from others. Generally our members are Great! and very very "well behaved," so this hasn't come up much at all. If you do receive a PM that is coming from someone you don't know very well and perhaps offering something for sale or anything questionable, please do let me know; if there's a pattern (more than one person affected by it) I can't tell unless at least two people let me know. I respect the membership's privacy as much as possible and I am careful with any personal info that I have under my custody (your email address, for example.) The upside of using the PM system is that your email address is kept private; everything is done through the forum. When you use the forum's email function, an email is sent to the recipient, and the "from" address is set to your personal email address. The "downside" is that the message is stored on the database. Does this answer your question? If you have any more questions about email and PMs, please feel free to ask away here in public. |
Thanks!
It's not that I thought something fishy was going on here ...I just wanted to know after hearing the shocking news elsewhere! I know you're always looking out for everyone! |
Hey, thanks for asking that question, I wondered the same thing! |
