I have figured it out! It's because of Valerie's trip! Go Valerie, Go! Keep driving! You may keep us out of a recession! |

It's election time! |
Ours was dropping too. Now that Val got to California, it went up 4 cents. I hope this doesn't mean the price will rise as Val drives home . |
Didn't they claim to have "found" a new oil well somewhere in the US? I find it hard to believe that they just located it. I think they just decided to open it. |
The family my daughter nannies for in NY has land in Texas - with oil . Must be rough................ |
They didn't just "find" that oil field in the Gulf. What actually happened was that until now, they haven't had the technology to drill as deep, and through as thick rock, as they have now. Supposedly, this oil should be available for use within 5 to 10 years.. but not right away.
So, why are gas prices dropping? I would agree with ButtersStotch... it's election time! Although, it IS really nice to only have to pay $2.05/gal! I've heard rumors that it's going to go down even more, but I wonder for how long this will last How much is gas where everyone else is? |
Ours was $2.19 yesterday (I didn't go to town today). The lowest was $2.14 last week. This is in Mankato, MN. |
We've seen it this weekend range from $2.39-2.59 in the Chicago suburbs. |
We are paying $1.97-$1.99 a gal this weekend for gas here. |

Are you talking about the one in the Gulf of Mexico? If I'm remembering right, it's supposed to be the largest find in the United States. |
Here's the article:

Got down to $1.91 here. I think its the election.
With the lack of border security, the illegal immigration issues, the price of gas, the President wanting to make America, Canada and Mexico ONE country, illegal's receiving free aid, etc....... tempers are starting to flare. I know! "Let's lower the price of gas. The country will focus on that for awhile instead of the other issues." Gas is the least of our problems, and theirs, if they want MY vote. It's all a ploy for the election. Their timing seems to always give them away. We have the capability of sending men to the moon, destroying the world, cloning animals, tranplanting human organs, etc......... But, they can't figure this one out? jmop |
It'll be up to $5/gal again after the election....
unless we vote the right person in but who really knows who that is (slimey) |
It's dropped here in Canada too, but not as much. We are paying about 83 cents a liter, which is about $3.14 a gallon. |
Gas is a world commodity, no one person has control of gas prices. This may have been true 100 years ago, but not now. There are far too many variables affecting production, shipping and refining.
Granted the strange swings we have seen lately make us suspicious. But that's due to our rather naked situation. We don't have giant reserves in product or production. We can't store the stuff in any measureable quantity and as we know, we can't increase refining because we don't have any new refiners. We can rehap old ones, but that takes a plant off line causing a price spike. Another cause in our own local, state and federal government and their taxing!! In our area, 64 cents out of every dollar is taxes. How would you feel about milk, bread, lettuce if 64 cents of every dollar was government taxes? So why bitch about gas??? We elected the bums! |
