The Riveriera - Opening soon!
I'm kinda rushed at the moment but some of you "long timers" may remember the sad story of Riveriera the senior sheepie X I couldn't save. Due to his age and lack of any offers on his adoption - he was put down at the Humane Society. Many of us tried to come up with options, I visited him frequently but at the time was unable to yet bring a fourth male into my home. He was the sweetest boy and deserved a good home for his senior years. Many kind folks at this place offered to take him if we could manage his release and then arrange transportation. Riveriera went into foster care which gave me some sense we had more time. Nope he dissapeared from the site and I forced myself to stop at the shelter and ask what happened to him. The news was not good and I promised that should I ever purchase property to take in more pets deserving of a good home - I would call it the Riveriera in his honor. My sister was approved yesterday to purchase 5 acres and a large home , surrounded by hundreds of acres which are crown land and her neighbor has 60 acres. (our plan is for me to pursuade the woman next store to allow me to buy some of the acrerage when it's my time to move.) I still have to work and will continue to pay off my home and eventually combine our monies to operate an animal sanctuary for aged and special needs animals. It's the beginning of a life long dream for us! Marianne and the furballs My sister and I are going to call it the Riveriera ..(an unofficial animal sanctuary at this time.) |

| What wonderful news, Marianne!
We have a similar program around here, except they cater to cats (domestic and wild) and other wild animals. It's not too far away from my house..scary sometimes since they have big wild cats and I have little boys! lol One reason it'll be a LONG time before they play outside alone.

You guys are wonderful and thanks for the overwhelming support and comments. Oh sheesh I really need to get some more sleep some days..always embaressed when I realize all my typing errors.
Lol I even checked google for the spelling of "Riveriera" but some sites spell it Riviera..which I think is probably the correct way. Oops!
My sister, Nancy falls apart if she visits shelters so for the time being it will be my job to take those that have no hope of adoption..last chance kinda thing..sadly we can't save them all..but to the ones we do ..it's going to make a difference. Marianne and the furballs |
