5767? Only 233 more years until the Y6K problem!?! Oy vey! Happy New Year! |
Happy New Year to you too and God bless! |
Tove, this is the Jewish New Year. Maybe Debora can explain the numbering system for years????? |
They started with 1 and added one every time the Earth went around the sun. |
The very first day, was the day G-d created Adam. This is the birthday of (Wo)man. The Jewish calendar is based on months that are lunar months. Each cycle of the moon is a month. That is why, Jewish holidays fluctuate each year. Sometimes, Chanuka is the end of November, sometimes right around Christmas. So...even if your not Jewish, you can have a little birthday cake for humanity !!! Enjoy! |
I am always willing to eat a piece of cake. |
Wynette, I like you more everyday!!!! |
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Deb, you taught me more in that one posting about the Jewish calendar than I ever learned in Hebrew school for all those years! |
I also did not know. Thanks for the (much needed) lesson! |
Happy New Year!! Go women! Yey for cake! Im in too with Wynnette! |
Happy Rosh Hashanah! |
This is an EXCELLENT source for understaning the Jewish calendar and the Jewish Leap Year (which is an extra month long) that happens about once every 3 years.

La Shana Tova!
Have a sweet and happy New year! Thanks Deb, for the lesson about the Jewish Calendar going by the lunar calendar. I also did not learn that in my millions of years (It felt that way!!) of Hebrew School. Boy did I hate Hebrew School. Probably because I was forced to go. |
Happy New Year! I know my Aussie Shepherd China will join in eating the cake. lol!
Helen, mom to Violet, China and Pearl p.s. I am visiting in Michigan and the gas for regular is $2.09 a gallon. In Florida it is $2.53. Wonder what that is all about? |
May everyone celebrating have a truly blessed new year! |

different God, different 0 year. |
ummmm, same God, Same bible, same pentateuch, same Commandments (yes, even THAT one), same patriarchs, same principles, same goals and same waiting for the Messiah.
Difference: One is waiting for the Messiah for the first time, the other is waiting for the Second Coming. Question: If the Messiah were to come tomorrow, and be accepted by both Jew and Christian as authentic, and it turns out that it was a Second Coming, or it was a First Coming... Would it have made any difference at all? |
no
And have a happy new year |
I see this thread changing. But, I want to put my 2 cents in. Tony and I go to Key West every year. They have a saying there, "We are all members of one human family." I love that! (I even have the bumper sticker, and the coffee mug that on the other side says, "Growing old disgracefully") ) |
BELATED SHANA TOVA AND HAG SAMEACH!!!!!!
MAY PEACE, HAPPINESS, TOLERANCE, UNCONDITIONAL LOVE AND PROSPERITY BE WITH EVERYONE ALWAYS!!! |
Bravo! Well said! And back atcha!!!! |
