Any exciting plans for Memorial Day Weekend?

Anybody have any exciting plans that will include their sheepdogs this weekend?

Sheepdogs loooooove barbeques, you know!

Keep the chicken legs out of reach, but pass the hotdogs down!

Sydney and I are going to Athol, MA to spend the weekend at my sister's Lake House. My friend and her husband just bought the house next to my sister and this is the weekend they are moving in! I don't know how relaxing it will be - but I'll be trying hard!

My parents are dog-sitting Presley & Brittney while we're gone. Sydney wouldn't think about letting me go without her! I've just returned from a week vacation without them - and she wouldn't think of staying behind again! After all, it's been 3 weeks since she's seen her favorite boyfriend/cousin Basset Hound, Mosi! :)

Hope everyone has a wonderful Weekend! Keep all of the Service-People in your thoughts and prayers this Memorial Day!

Mawell might get an exciting weekend! I had plans to go to Charlotte, NC to visit friends that attend the NASCAR race and camp out. A friend of mine was gonna house sit and watch Max, but has just informed me he made other plans (Considerate huh?). I am trying to find an alternative dog and house sitter, but don't know if I can last minute. So my next option is to bring max. He would have an RV to sleep in etc, but I'm afraid all the people and excitement might scare him too much. And the heat of course, should be in mid to high 80's. He is still pretty skittish. Or of course I can stay home. Any one have any thoughts or advice??
You know your dog best. If you think he can handle the change in scenery, and as long as you can run the AC in the motorhome (and be sure to leave the roof vents and a window open in case the AC fails) I say go for it! I don't think I'd bring him to the race though. Pretty noisy, I'd guess. Could he be left away from the track during the race?

If you're going to be out and about, bring along water for Max. They have these nifty water bottles that have little drinking (slurping?) trenches attached.... how cool is that?

Have a great trip! Take pictures! ;)
Thanks for the advice Ron. I have found a friend to house sit, but part of me has always wanted to bring him. I just have the usuall fears: him getting away, max being scarred, etc. I plan on making a decision tonite. And No, max would not attend the race, its Sunday nite, so he would stay in the RV. Thanks again! I will let you know how it went if I end up bringing him.
Shelly,

If you decide to bring Max - be sure you have a collar / tag with contact information (cell phone # or way to contact you while you're away) - just in case (heaven forbid) ! You can get one done immediately at Petsmart or Petco - if you don't have one already.
I double collar Sydney - one a choke collar (actually a greyhound/nightingale collar) and another buckle collar with tag (so if she slipped out of her choke collar - the other collar with tag would still be on her).

If you think you would be more stressed with leaving him in the RV while you're at the race - you may want to stick with the plan of keeping him at home! Otherwise, they adjust pretty well - and it's good to get him used to traveling and different surroundings. Like Ron said, you know your dog the best - so if you think he'll be happier with you - go for it!

Don't forget to bring "poop bags", food, water, bedding and something to occupy him while your at the Race!

Have fun!

You know, of course, that our dear Jake was a big-time RV'er.

You think dogs love trucks? Try to pry them out of an RV!!!
Ron thanks for sharing the pictures of Jake! I remember seeing them when I first joined the forum a few months back. Now that I have been part of the Forum and OES world for few months they really touch me and have a whole different impact. I can really tell you all had a great life togeather!

As far as the Holiday weekend goes my oldest daughter turns 20 and we are having a BBQ for her. :( My baby is no longer a teen :( I said this a million times but they grow up way too fast. :D Drake will be in heaven because he loves a good party and all the attention he gets when everyone is here. Hope everyone has a great and safe weekend 8)

A SPECIAL THANKS TO ALL THOSE THAT HAVE SERVED OUR COUNTRY AND A SPECIAL BLESSING TO ALL THE FAMILIES OF THOSE THAT MADE THE ULTIMATE SACRAFICE FOR OUR COUNTRY!
Our holiday weekend was last weekend, but I had to work... and this weekend is not a holiday in Canada, but since I work for an American company I get Monday off :D
I don't have any plans though, other than spring cleaning, catching up on laundry (mountains of it) and maybe starting to plant my seedlings that I started in the house.
Maggy and I (and I suppose the rest of the family can come too ;) ) are going up to Detroit Lakes, Mn to our cabin.

It's supposed to rain all weekend.
So I'll be riding home with one messy Sheepie in the Jeep! Which is fine -- she'll be stuck riding with a messy me!
Yardwork for us....weather permitting. Going to Connecticut on Saturday to help my mother with her yard (trimming trees, planting flowers).

Sunday and Monday we will be back in New Hampshire putting in the seedlings we started. Baxter will help of course. He digs holes and checks the roots of the plants I am trying to put in. Unfortunately he doesn't always dig the holes where I want them.
Jennifer, considering you're a local - I hope that you consider coming to the NEOESR Rescue Picnic next Saturday, June 5th in Bozrah CT!

It's a lot of fun and something that needs to be experienced at least once in a lifetime! 100+ sheepies (and their uprights of course)!!!

You don't have to have a RESCUE to attend! Any friend of OES Rescue is welcome! Hope to meet alot of new people this year!

Hi Kristen:

Baxter, my husband and I are planning to attend the NEOESR Rescue Picnic next week. We haven't had much luck getting Baxter to wear a hat yet....but there is still a week to go. Let's see....do I have fun in the garden, finish work for our clients or do I teach Baxter how to wear a hat.....decisions, decisions.

And I am really looking forward to meeting all the dogs I've heard about...and their uprights too.

Jennifer
